I stopped at Walmart early this week to pick up a few things before heading to get my son from school. As I passed the first few aisles, a young woman began talking to me about the troubles she was dealing with. I was a bit pressed for time, and everything in me wanted to bolt, but I made myself stand there and listen.
As time passed, I began to panic that I wouldn’t have a chance to buy what I needed. So I asked her if she would like to walk with me while I gathered my items before leaving to pick up my son. She smiled, shook her head no, and looked downward. I told her it was nice talking with her and then moved to another part of the store.
As I was looking for the items on my list, I suddenly felt a bump. It was her shopping cart. She had come over to thank me for taking the time to listen. I told her I didn’t believe our meeting was random and that God had a reason for us to cross paths. She shared that she believed in God, and I invited her to church. Although she didn’t come, I hope she remembers the invitation in the future.
